Some of our reference project: press conferences, media relations, crisis communications, corporate publishing
Media and Public Relations
A vessel launch is one of the most important milestones in a shipbuilding contract, both for the shipyard and for the ship owner. When the new ship is launched for the first time, the expertise of the designers and shipbuilders is put to the test, as enormous physical forces act on the hull.
This traditional maritime event is an impressive spectacle for invited guests, the media and the general public. As part of our media relations work in Flensburg, we found the best camera positions, coordinated expert contacts and, as always, provided well-researched information about the new ship in a press kit.
Corporate Publishing
As an important part of the European travel and tourism sector, duty free and travel retail makes a significant contribution to the economy and employment. At the same time, it is one of the most heavily regulated supply chains in the world. In order to lay the foundations for continued successful development, the industry wants to explain the complex framework conditions of this special marketplace to political decision-makers in a way that is easy to understand.
The European Travel Retail Confederation (ETRC), based in Brussels, has therefore commissioned a brochure in English containing key facts and figures, information on regulatory challenges, messages from association representatives and voices from the industry. Working closely with the association, we developed the editorial concept and graphic design, created content, sourced images, and managed the coordination and editing processes.
Media and Public Relations
Together with Brinkmann & Partner, we were responsible for media relations during the insolvency proceedings of MV Werften in Wismar, Rostock and Stralsund. Insolvency proceedings send a strong signal to the public. The media quickly develop a keen interest in identifying causes, problems and solutions.
Since a large number of different stakeholders are affected by the insolvency, a wide variety of opinions arise. These spread quickly, particularly through online reporting and social media. Potential investors from home and abroad also follow the proceedings, including via traditional media and the internet. In doing so, they observe how the reputation of the insolvent company develops. It is therefore important to accompany the investor process with careful and appropriate public relations work. In such cases, our client is the administrator appointed by the insolvency court.
Corporate Publishing
Do you know why there is an “Elephant” on the airport apron, which rapper will take you to a walking tour through NYC or how diverse the animal world is at Hamburg Airport?
The stories behind these (and many more) were researched, written and presented for many years by us as the editorial staff of the "Hamburg•Flughafen" a neighnourhood newspaper published by Hamburg Airport. We set the highest of journalistic standards for ourselves, from editorial services to supervising freelance photographers and layout through to the printing and coordination of distribution, we manage every stage of newspaper production with passion and expertise.
Communication with neighbours across the whole spectrum of channels is essential at Hamburg Airport. An important part of this strategy was this quarterly newspaper with interesting stories about aviation, exciting reports from distant countries as well as informative reports from the airport itself. “Hamburg•Flughafen” had a print run of 300,000 copies and was delivered to those living near and around the airport.
Event Planning for Guests and the Media
It is a moving monument – and therefore unique. The Junkers Ju 52 – or Auntie Ju – from “Deutsche Lufthansa Berlin-Stiftung” (DLBS) is the only aircraft in the world approved for passenger travel that bears that title. The honour deserved a special celebration: in the presence of honoured guests and media representatives, the First Mayor of Hamburg, Olaf Scholz gave the official plaque from the German National Trust to the Honourable Chair of the Lufthansa Supervisory Board, Dr. Jürgen Weber.
The key challenge in this event was in the timing. It was to occur during the Airport Days 2015 (hosted by Hamburg Airport and Lufthansa Technik, with a total of 80 000 visitors) at the Lufthansa base, meaning that Lufthansa Technik’s security regulations were an important consideration.
In close collaboration with the DLBS, Lufthansa Technik and Hamburg Airport, Schellenberg & Kirchberg planned the event, inviting guests and media representatives, coordinating how they were to arrive at the event site, and supervising the event technicians on site. The ceremony was moderated by Cord Schellenberg.
Moderation of a Trade Conference
The Hamburg Aviation Conference is characterised by its interdisciplinary approach: every year, the list of speakers includes industry insiders such as airport managers from Hamburg, Tampa, Iceland, London, Moscow and Hyderabad, airline representatives from Hong Kong, Dublin, Helsinki and Warsaw, as well as experts from other fields, particularly the digital economy. Under the motto "Think Future", the conference offers participants space for free thinking, open discussions and a wide variety of ideas.
The conference is organised by the consulting firm XXL Solutions headed by Ursula Silling. Its partner is Hamburg Airport, which launched the annual conference in 1997.
Schellenberg & Kirchberg PR supported the Hamburg Aviation Conference for many years by designing and drafting media texts on the conference topics. In addition, Cord Schellenberg chairs the international panel discussions alongside organiser Ursula Silling. The conference language is English.
